PARIS: The Australian Tourist Commission is reviewing its French PR

account, which has been held by travel PR specialist LBP Communication

for the last two years.

The commission is seeking an agency to promote Australia as a tourist

destination, a brief which includes media relations, promotions and

events.

The new account will last for three years, taking in the Sydney Olympic

Games in the year 2000, and part of the PR brief is to work alongside

official sponsors for the games, which include Visa and Coca-Cola.

The commission, which is mostly funded by the Australian government, is

required to carry out a statutory competitive review of its PR agencies

every three years. Last year, it retained its incumbent agencies in

Germany, the UK and Italy - respectively Adam and Partners, BGB and

Associates and Studio Aigo. At the same time, it changed its Swedish

account, selecting Jerry Bergstrom over incumbent Burson-Marsteller.
