SFX Entertainment, the US promoter, producer and live-entertainment

venue operator, which which was reported last week to be preparing a

takeover bid for Wembley Stadium, has retained Shandwick to handle its

financial PR.

Shandwick was appointed after a pitch which took place last week. The

agency’s London office will handle financial PR, and public affairs and

corporate PR for SFX as required, in London and across Europe.

Shandwick director Andrew Best will head the financial element of the

account.

SFX has so far refused to confirm or deny reports that it is interested

in acquiring Wembley, the leisure group which owns the stadium,

neighbouring exhibition venues, six greyhound tracks and corporate

hospitality business Keith Prowse in the UK. Wembley also has gaming,

horse and dog track interests in the US.

However, the group, which already owns sports promotion agency the

Marquee Group in the UK, is interested in building its business

interests throughout Europe and will call on Shandwick to provide PR

support as deals arise.

Enic, the sports entertainment group, made a bid for Wembley in January,

which was rejected. Enic’s financial PR is handled by Financial

Dynamics, and Wembley retains The Communication Group to represent its

interests.
