Diary: Harvard PR shot an e-mail into the air, it fell to earth they knew not where

My spies tell me that recruitment competition in the IT sector is

hotting up by the day.

It seems that Harvard PR has embarked upon a ruthless e-mail recruitment

drive to snare the best in the industry.

Last week Andrea Kruck, PA to Harvard’s MD Nicholas Taylor, sent out

e-mails across the industry begging for PR professionals interested in

opportunities at senior account manager level to contact her.

However, it seems that Harvard’s targeting went a little awry. One

e-mail landed on the desktop of Mike King, MD at rival firm Johnson King

(JK).

King tells me: ’Maybe they have heard that JK staff are about to launch

a reverse takeover bid and know something about my future employment

prospects that I don’t.’

But King was constructive in his e-mail reply to Kruck. He requested

that he be left off her next e-mail list and added: ’If you get really

desperate I can suggest a couple of people that we’d be keen to offload

if you are interested.’

Geoff Boyes, a director of hi-tech agency EML was also on the hit

list.

It seems that he too declined Harvard’s advances.

Credit to Harvard though. It immediately apologised for e-mails which

went out to people it had not met previously.
