Bass Hotels and Resorts, a subsidiary of UK hotel and leisure giant

Bass plc, has named Melanie Brandman as its vice-president for corporate

affairs.

Brandman, who has been corporate communications vice-president for Bass

subsidiary Inter-Continental Hotels and Resorts for the last five years,

will move from London to the company’s head office in Atlanta, before

the end of the year. The majority of the group’s hotels are in the

US.

Her new role covers worldwide corporate affairs for all Bass hotel

brands including Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inns, Inter-Continental Hotels

and Resorts and Staybridge Suites.

Brandman said: ’I’m particularly looking forward to managing the

communication of such major brands and getting involved in areas new to

me such as government affairs.’

She will oversee a team of seven and is responsible for corporate

communications, media relations, government affairs, internal

communications and community affairs.

She replaces Craig Smith, who is now vice-president of business

integration, leading the team responsible for the integration of

Inter-Continental Hotels and Resorts, which Bass bought in March.

Brandman reports to Cindy Durning, who is a member of the Bass Hotels

and Resorts management committee and is executive vice-president of

human resources.
