FD will support the group's UK communications, reflecting, in particular, the company's critical position as a provider of coal for domestic electricity generation – supplying six out of seven UK generating companies.
Also, with the UK currently importing more than two-thirds of its coal from abroad, FD will promote SRG as having an important role to play as a key domestic producer.
The FD account will be led by UK CEO, Geoffrey Pelham-Lane, and MD Billy Clegg.
Weber Shandwick's Edinburgh-based team will be responsible for the group's regional communications in Scotland and is headed up by its director, Richard Bright.
The two agencies will report to SRG's group management – CEO Don Nicolson, CFO Nick Guest and MD of SRG's estates and renewables business, Alan Somerville.
Scottish Resources Group provides a quarter of the UK's total coal production, employs 1,000 people, operates ten mines across Scotland, manages 22,000 acres of land and is growing its focus on renewable energy business.
