PR WEEK: Diary; Basham proves there is romance in financial PR

Brookside, Eastenders, Emmerdale - they have nothing on the soapy world of PR.

Brookside, Eastenders, Emmerdale - they have nothing on the soapy world

of PR.

Witness the forthcoming wedding of PR man Brian Basham - recently

divorced from Conservative Central Office head of news Eileen Wise - and

the very lovely Lynne Goodson, a former PA to Ludgate chairman Tim

Trotter.

In fact, the two have known each other for 20 years - Lynne was Brian’s

secretary at John Addey Associates - and were once, as the saying goes,

very close.

The relationship cooled and Lynne went on to marry Brian’s young

assistant Tony Knox - now chairman of financial PR firm Financial

Dynamics.

PR trainspotters will note that Knox and Basham later worked together at

Basham’s financial PR firm Broad Street Group before the two fell out

and Basham went off to form Warwick Corporate.

But all this was ancient history by the time Brian and Lynne met again

last year at a charity ball. It was, says Basham, ‘a rekindling of a

very old affection’. I do like a happy ending.
