The Week in Charities

The Energy Savings Trust comms chief Ellie Springett is to join the Virgin Group's not-for-profit arm Virgin Unite as director of comms.

She will take up her new position on Monday, overseeing a team of four. Springett will be responsible for developing brand strategy across the US, UK and South Africa. She replaces Charlotte Goodman, who has moved internally to business mobilisation director.

Prostate UK has called in Hill & Knowlton to help raise awareness of prostate disease, following a three-way pitch. The agency will target women as well as men, because of their role as the 'gatekeeper' of family health issues. The agency will also raise awareness of the organisation's 'Pants in the Park' events (5km runs) among families. The contract runs until July.

Kick It Out's director Piara Powar has told PRWeek the group will press ahead with its original PR plans after the FA postponed the launch of the campaign group's controversial video aiming to stop homophobia in football. The move provoked widespread criticism of the FA in the media. 'Criticism of the launch's cancellation is actually positive. It means the debate about homophobia in football is now being had in the mainstream media, which was one of our aims,' said Powar.
