Public Affairs: MPs hunt for adviser roles

A number of MPs are believed to be looking for jobs in lobbying after the general election.

Last week, prweek.com revealed Conservative MP Andrew MacKay is to join BursonMarsteller's UK public affairs practice as international consultant and strategic adviser.

One public affairs agency boss told PRWeek MacKay was not the only outgoing MP on the market. Other senior industry sources said they had been provided with the names of MPs considering advisory roles after the election.

The Financial Times' Westminster blog named MacKay's wife Julie Kirkbride as one such MP, claiming she had been 'chatting to lobbying firms ... about work post-election'. Kirkbride did not comment.
