Northern Electric and Gas has hired Lynx PR as it mounts a dual

fuel push into Yorkshire.

The move comes as energy companies attempts to entice customers to use a

single supplier for both electricity and gas, following deregulation of

the two markets.

Fees for the six-month consumer contract, won after a two-way pitch two

weeks ago, will be around pounds 100,000 on an annual basis. This is the

first time the energy company has hired an external agency.

Lynx deputy managing director Peter Downey said: ’Our task is to raise

the company’s profile in the west and south Yorkshire areas and to make

people aware of the really competitive fuel offer from the company as

well as the strong priority it gives to customer service.’

Northern Electric and Gas has 1.6 million gas and electricity customers

in an area stretching from the Scottish borders down to north

Yorkshire.

It now wants to expand into west and south Yorkshire, where Yorkshire

Electricity has a stronghold.

Lynx already represents the National Grid Company and Norsk Hydro, the

state-owned Norwegian oil company. Other clients include Whitbread and

Hays.
