PUBLIC SECTOR: Stonewall expands PR to promote new image

Gay and lesbian campaign group Stonewall is expanding its press and communications department by two as a result of an audit of the group’s communications strategy by branding consultancy Whitewater. Mark Watson has consequently been promoted from press officer to communications director and will report to chief executive Angela Mason. He will recruit a press and PR officer and an information officer to form his team. The team will work jointly on campaigns in key areas for Stonewall such as fairness in the workplace for gay and lesbian workers. Stonewall is to launch a new image at the beginning of June to reflect the group’s change from a small pressure group to an important lobby group for gay and lesbian rights.
