Peregrine Communications has been selected to handle comms and press relations by Finisterre Capital, the London-based emerging markets investment specialist. The agency won the account after a five-way competitive pitch process, thought to include Penrose, Broadgate Mainland, Hume Brophy and Rostrom Parry. Peregrine has also won a brief with 'cleantech' investment manager Hazel Capital.

Alex Evans, former head of public relations at ABN Amro's global investment banking division until 2005, has launched a corporate and financial markets consultancy, Uplands PR. Evans has previously worked at FD and as a journalist and equity analyst.

SG CIB, the French investment bank, has recruited Ila Kotecha to its media relations team. She joins from a similar role at RBS Global Banking & Markets.

Sorbic International, an AIM-listed Chinese firm specialising in the production of sorbates, has brought in Abchurch Communications as its retained financial PR and corporate communications agency. The firm previously used Hansard Group.

Biddicks has been engaged to advise Sinclair Pharma, an international speciality pharmaceutical company. Biddicks director, Shane Dolan, who secured the business via other work in the sector, will lead the account, advising on all aspects of City communications and IR. Dolan will report to new CEO Christopher Spooner.

HB Communications has hired former journalist Andrea Stout. She joins from the CNN news desk in New York.
