Text 100 however decamped to the lovely environs of, er, Grantham last

week to hold its ’world service’ weekend for 256 employees.

Text last held a get together for employees two years ago in

Amsterdam.

So what has prompted the decision to switch to the Lincolnshire

town?

It could be a celebration of Grantham’s most famous citizens Margaret

Thatcher and Isaac Newton, or perhaps just a simple cost-cutting

measure.

Apparently the Grantham weekend provided opportunities for staff at all

levels to get to know one another during a series of talks and

presentations.

Directors including UK managing director Katie Kemp and European chief

Carlo Creighton were in attendance.

One ex-Text employee described the last such event as: ’Business mixed

with tedium’.

However, the choice of Grantham as a location obviously livened things

up a bit. Kemp tells me that activities included cabaret and an evening

ball involving copious drinking. Kemp stayed sober though. She is eight

months pregnant.
