Pharmaceutical giant Smith-Kline Beecham has appointed GCI Prague

to promote its consumer healthcare brands, which cover oral care and OTC

medicines, in the Czech Republic. GCI is understood to have pitched

against Ogilvy and Mather and Burson-Marsteller for the work.

PR for the company’s consumer healthcare division was previously split

between GCI and O&M, with GCI promoting the toothpaste Aquafresh, Oxy

skin care products and flu treatment Coldrex; and O&M handling brands

including Panadol and other analgesics, which GCI will now take on.

GCI’s brief also encompasses product PR for new OTC and oral care brands

to be launched this autumn and corporate PR for the company’s consumer

healthcare division, including communicating with pharmacists,

professional institutions and regulatory bodies.

’This means recognition of our past work, and will help us explore the

healthcare sector,’ said Katka Wheeler, GCI’s regional director for

central and eastern Europe.
