Community Pharmacy Action Group, as it continues its campaign to prevent

the threatened abolition of resale price maintenance, a policy that

guarantees a minimum price for over-the-counter medicine.

Incumbent agency Lawson Lucas Mendelsohn, and EMC Euro PR also pitched

for the account.

Regester Larkin will work on building media and political contacts and

developing a media relations programme for the group, which represents

12,000 local pharmacies. The group claims many of the pharmacies will be

forced to close if resale price maintenance is abolished.

The Restrictive Practices Court has been asked by the Director General

of the Office of Fair Trading to review resale price maintenance, which

he claims is anti-competitive.

LLM handled initial lobbying for the Community Pharmacy Action Group

before and during the Office of Fair Trading’s decision.

Judy Larkin, partner at Regester Larkin and the account leader, said:

’We’re looking forward to the campaign ahead. Pharmacies are a vital

resource for millions of people. The success of this programme will be

about protecting consumer and patient access, advice and choice in the

community.’
