STOP PRESS: Big increases in WPP PR revenue

WPP’s half-year results for 1998 show a 22 per cent revenue rise for the group’s PR and public affairs activities, to just under pounds 65 million. Hill and Knowlton experienced an increase of more than 18 per cent and revenues at Ogilvy PR Worldwide rose by almost 22 per cent. In the six months to June, revenues for WPP increased eight per cent to pounds 900 million, while operating profits leapt 19.5 per cent to pounds 103.7 million. Continental Europe and the UK were its fastest-growing regions.
