London Electricity, the utility which has been put up for sale by

its US owner Entergy, has hired Paul Taylor as its head of corporate

affairs.

London Electricity has had a vacancy for a communications head since the

departure of company secretary and corporate affairs director Andrew

Robertson last September.

Taylor joins London Electricity next week from Keene Public Affairs

where he was a director. He will lead a corporate affairs team of eight

covering government affairs, media relations, and internal

communications.

During his four years at Keene, Taylor worked with several energy sector

clients. He said: ’There are a lot of things to get stuck into at London

Electricity. Deregulation issues and the whole structure of the

electricity and gas markets have put the company under the

spotlight.’

London Electricity is thought to have attracted a number of bidders

since American parent Entergy announced its decision to pull out of

international distribution markets earlier this month. Entergy paid

pounds 1.3 billion for London Electricity two years ago but is thought

to want close to pounds 2 billion for the company.

Customer complaints to the firm doubled this year but it hopes to turn

this around with a series of price cuts.
