Accountancy and consulting firm Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu

International has recruited MMD to support its operations in central and

eastern Europe with a PR programme across 15 countries.

Hired without a competitive pitch, MMD will initially work in the Czech

Republic followed by Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. Assignments will also

be undertaken in the Baltic States, Slovenia, Rumania, Serbia and

Yugoslavia.

MMD has offices in Warsaw, Budapest and Prague, from where the account

will be co-ordinated.

Details of the campaign remain under wraps, but Jana Hamel, Deloitte

Touche’s marketing director for central Europe said the main objective

would be to raise overall awareness of the company’s services. These

include accounting, auditing, financial management consulting and tax

advice.

Work will initially involve liaising with local media and press

agencies.

With offices in 15 countries and a staff of 1,300, Deloitte Touche is

the biggest of the so-called ’big six’ accountancy firms in central and

eastern Europe. Based in New York, the company was formed from the

merger of Deloitte Haskins and Sells with Touche Ross in 1989 and last

year netted revenues of pounds 1 billion.
