FD signs up Sunday Times business editor John Waples

The business editor of the Sunday Times is quitting journalism to become managing director at financial PR firm FD.

John Waples will become the latest senior journalist to jump ship for the PR industry when he makes the move in the New Year.

Operating from FD's London office, Waples will assume a broad role in advising a number of the consultancy's larger financial and corporate clients.

In a statement, the agency's UK CEO Geoffrey Pelham-Lane said: 'As one of the UK's most senior and widely respected business editors with extensive experience across a diverse range of industries and issues, John's counsel will be of particular value to our clients.  We very much look forward to working with him.'

FD Group CEO Charles Watson, said: 'In addition to working closely with some of our most important clients, John will also play an important role in contributing to the continuing development of FD's ever growing global client franchise.'
