FRANKFURT: Nestle Deutschland has appointed Barbara Nickerson as

head of press and public relations following the retirement of Albrecht

Koch.

Koch, who has worked for the organisation for 32 years retires at the

end of June. Nickerson was recruited internally from her post of head of

consumer services for the Nestle-owned culinary brand, Maggi. She had

held this position for 13 years. Nickerson is being replaced by Birgit

Grun, former head of consumer contacts for the Maggi sales team.

In her new role, Nickerson will be responsible for the company’s

corporate PR as it focuses on the task of reversing the decline in

coffee consumption among young Germans. Consumption among Germans under

29 has fallen by 20 per cent over the last five years.

Nestle Deutschland has 13,000 employees and an annual turnover of pounds

2.6 billion.
