QVC UK, the shopping channel, puts £500,000 brief out to pitch

QVC UK, the shopping channel, has put a brief out to pitch believed to be worth £500,000.

The shopping channel has spoken to three agencies, including six-year incumbent Freshwater.

It is looking for an agency to put together an overall PR strategy, believed to include corporate and consumer work. Currently Freshwater has been handling QVC’s consumer PR.

Freshwater director Alex Love confirmed the agency had pitched for the account.

One senior industry source said the selected agency may have to work on ‘a big announcement that is happening early next year with ITV’.

Media regulator Ofcom has already said the teleshopping could be a potential source of extra revenue for public service broadcasting channels.

Meanwhile QVC UK’s director of engineering and operations Richard Burrell was quoted in The Daily Telegraph in June saying that there was an opportunity for ITV or Five to get into teleshopping.

QVC PR manager Ellie Lloyd could not be reached for comment as PRWeek went to press.
