GENEVA: Reuters is about to appoint its first PR agency in Spain

and will be seeking others outside Europe to follow.

The move comes a month after the appointment of Marcus Ferrar as the

news organisation’s worldwide PR director, with a brief to beef up its

global PR agency network.

In the past year Reuters has appointed agencies on a country-by-country

basis.

These are: Charles Barker in Frankfurt, Information et Entreprise in

Paris, Interel Marien in Brussels, Effect in Amsterdam, Stockholm-based

Vox for the Nordic countries, and Fleishman-Hillard in Milan.

Ferrar was corporate relations and marketing manager for Reuters in

Europe, the Middle East and Africa before the company restructured along

operational, rather than regional, lines. He now reports to Jean-Claude

Marchand, Reuters chief executive of global sales and operations.
