Tony Good, the eponymous founder of Good Relations and one of the

industry’s most enduring figures, has helped to launch a new PR

agency.

Good has given his financial backing to WH Smith’s PR manager for

retail, Catherine Hickson, who launched Legend Consultancy this week.

Her first clients are WH Smith’s retail business and Voxkey Services, a

company operating care homes.

Good will be a partner in the new firm, and will act as an advisor and

mentor, getting involved in strategic issues.

Prior to her two years at WH Smith, Hickson spent eight years at

Countrywide Porter Novelli including stints as a director and as head of

its consumer division. Immediately before joining WH Smith she was

working as an independent consultant.

’At heart I am a consultant,’ she commented. ’These two years in-house

have given me new perspectives on client handling and I am enjoying

returning to my roots.’

Good and Hickson are neighbours in Wiltshire. He said: ’I hold her in

very high regard and I am sure a consultancy in this area will work

really well. I got help when I started up and I believe very strongly in

identifying and supporting up and coming talent.’

Good spends time in India, where he is a director of Good Relations

(India), and has a portfolio of directorships and chairmanships.
