Farrow will join in the New Year and will jointly spearhead the agency's City and wider financial offer alongside Andy Berry.

At Merlin, Farrow was responsible for around half its financial services business, managing clients including the Man Group, Kazkommertsbank, Russia's MICEX Stock Exchange, Ferox Capital Management and Euromoney's Hedge Fund Intelligence business.

Simon Matthews, CEO of Fishburn Hedges, said: 'Paul's appointment adds to the strength of our City and financial markets practice. This sector of the market is recovering well from the problems of recent years and will be a source of growth and opportunity for Fishburn Hedges looking forward.'

Before joining Merlin, Farrow was deputy editor of International Financing Review (IFR) at Thomson Reuters. He also spent five years working in equity research and sales in Madrid and as an equity analyst for Swiss Bank Corp.

Farrow said: 'The City and financial market has undergone considerable turbulence but effective communications remains mission-critical to all financial institutions. Fishburn Hedges has impressive credentials, a superb client list and ambitious plans and I'm looking forward to helping to bringing these to fruition.'
