Biss Lancaster won the account following a six-way pitch. It will become the lead agency working alongside The BIG Partnership in Scotland, and Morrow Communications in Northern Ireland.

The account team, led by board director Melissa Hinds, will provide strategic planning and comms support as well as handling station, network, trade, and corporate projects. The stations include Key 103 in Manchester, Radio City in Liverpool and Rock FM across Lancashire.

Catherine Gort, Big City Network's head of marketing & communications, praised Biss Lancaster’s 'vision of creating a real strategic focus to drive the business forward'.

‘We want to make the news, not simply report it, by the development of big communications ideas to get cut-through and by originating strong creative platforms to engage all our audiences,' she said.

Hinds said: ‘The media landscape is fast changing but radio will always have a place in people's hearts, even more so these days when "life is local".  We aim to really connect and engage with local communities through great musicality and local news and interest pieces to make sure that the Big City Network stations are very much part of everyday life in those areas where they broadcast.’

The account win sees a nostalgic return to Key 103 for Biss Lancaster's joint MD, Brian Beech, who launched the station when he was head of press and promotions at sister station Piccadilly Radio 'many, many years ago'.
