19 November: Marketing execs love product quality for good reason. A well made product is far easier to promote than one that falls apart in minutes.

But today's products are becoming so well made that the need to replace them is moving further into the future. This recession proved the point. People who would normally replace their cars, computers, appliances etc every few years, didn't ... It's for this reason many PC makers will have heaved a sigh of relief when Windows 7 emerged.

19 November: Who still hates social media? Some have suggested the principles are right but the execution is worth throwing out and replacing with 'something real'. In Jeremiah Owyang's recent blog post following the Forbes CMO summit in Florida, the ... strategist for the Altimeter Group claimed that this group of chief marketing officers had 'elevated' the social media discussion.
