BlackBerry firm in hunt for public affairs help

The company that makes the BlackBerry is trawling for fresh public affairs support.

Research In Motion (RIM) has retained Fleishman-Hillard to handle UK public affairs since 2006. But the account is now up for grabs as the company behind the smartphone embarks on a pitch process, to be overseen by UK director of government relations Elizabeth Kanter.

The process is in the early stages, with pitches expected next month and a decision by the end of the year. F-H has been invited to repitch.

RIM is headquartered in Canada, with offices in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. The pitch comes as RIM faces significant sustained competition from the iPhone.
