HONG KONG: Swiss-owned investment bank Credit Suisse First Boston

has appointed Tom Grimmer as its first head of corporate communications

for the Asia Pacific region.

Grimmer was formerly director of corporate communications at Peregrine

Investment Holdings, the Hong Kong-based group which collapsed after

financial difficulties earlier this year. Grimmer’s appointment brings

the number of people in CSFB’s Hong Kong PR team to four.

His appointment comes at a time when many Far Eastern investment

companies are cutting back on staff in light of economic difficulties.

But CSFB believes investing in strong communications will help it

survive the slump.

Grimmer will be responsible for internal and external communications,

including press relations and advertising.

Previously the most senior communications post was held by Bonny Woo,

who is vice-president of corporate communications. She now reports to

Grimmer.
