Newcastle City Council has appointed Linda Scott as interim head of comms for an initial three months. Scott replaces Peter Holt, who has joined Bristol City Council as director of comms and marketing. Scott was formerly head of comms and marketing at Hull City Council. She left in August to pursue a career as an interim manager and strategic comms consultant.

Public sector organisations across England are being urged to show their commitment to apprenticeships by displaying a new 'badge' on websites or stationery. Companies' logos will, in turn, be put on the Apprenticeship website - so customers can see they support young people.

Business Link has reappointed PR4 to deliver national PR services. PR4 will deliver contracts under the jointly procured framework agreement to the Business Link National Team. PR4 first won the contract in 2007.

London Communications Agency director Luke Blair's column is now online. This week, he writes on waste management: 'The PR challenge of presenting an acceptable waste management plan and then being able to implement it, over a timescale that stretches into the future, is immense.'
