Sean Galvin has been named as corporate communications manager at oil giant Texaco.

Sean Galvin has been named as corporate communications manager at oil

giant Texaco.

Galvin, 40, will report to public affairs general manager David

Robinson, leading such activities as upstream public relations, which

covers oil exploration and production; UK government relations; company-

wide internal and external communications and internal magazine and

television production.

The newly-created position unites responsibilities previously carried

out by Gwyneth Shore, formerly Texaco upstream public relations manager,

who joined Lever Europe in June, as corporate relations manager, and

secondee Dan England, who handled internal communications before

returning to America last month.

Galvin joined Texaco in 1991 as a senior press officer, before being

promoted to media relations manager. For the last three years he has

worked at the company’s New York corporate public relations unit, where

his roles included a stint as international PR manager for its Middle

and Far East, Latin American, West African and European divisions.

Before moving into public relations, Galvin worked on national and

regional newspapers.
