Industrial giant Hanson is close to appointing a financial PR agency to handle the flotation of its energy business.

Industrial giant Hanson is close to appointing a financial PR agency to

handle the flotation of its energy business.

The conglomerate, which in January announced plans to demerge into four

different groups - Imperial Tobacco, Millennium Chemicals, Energy and

Hanson- is understood to have approached a number of agencies, including

Shandwick Consultants, Dewe Rogerson, Financial Dynamics, Brunswick,

Lowe Bell Financial and Citigate Communications.

Citigate already works for the Eastern Group, which includes Eastern

Electricity and Eastern Natural Gas, and - along with America’s largest

coal miner Peabody - will form a major part of the Energy group.

Hanson is likely to select the agency for the Energy float by the end of

next month.

News of the search comes three months after Hanson signed up both

Brunswick, to act on behalf of Imperial Tobacco prior to its October 1

London Stock Exchange flotation, and Lowe Bell Financial, to provide UK

support for the simultaneous New York flotation of Millennium Chemicals.
