NEWS: Howson passes screen test as Flextech PR head

Flextech Television, owner of the Children’s Channel, Bravo and the Family Channel, has recruited its first head of corporate PR and marketing.

Flextech Television, owner of the Children’s Channel, Bravo and the

Family Channel, has recruited its first head of corporate PR and

marketing.

Nicola Howson, the 26-year-old head of press and PR at Pearson

Television, will join the company on 1 October.

Flextech TV, which re-branded from United Artists Programming in June,

is a subsidiary of Flextech plc and owns, manages or has stakes in 11

channels.

The company has been searching for an in-house PR professional ever

since the departure of PR manager Jane Campbell in October.

In the new upgraded position, Howson will take sole charge of corporate

and media relations and marketing, reporting to Flextech TV MD Brent

Harman.

She will liaise with Propeller Marketing Communications, Flextech TV’s

PR agency of 12 months and, less frequently, Flextech plc’s financial PR

adviser Brunswick.

Brent Harman said on the hiring: ‘With Flextech growing at its present

rate, it was essential to create this new position.

‘Nicola’s appointment will help to promote a more positive and

meaningful relationship between Flextech, its channels, Propeller and

the media,’ he added.

Flextech is in negotiations with the BBC over a joint venture to launch

up to six cable and satellite channels.
