Bank of America, the third largest bank in the US, is reviewing its UK

PR account with Fleishman-Hillard, six months after Susan Grice joined

the bank as its first head of corporate affairs for Europe, Middle East

and Africa (PR Week, 8 March).

Fleishman-Hillard has handled corporate communications for Bank of

America since February 1995 with a particular emphasis on its capital

markets business. The brief recently extended to include the bank’s

investment banking services and also includes some work for its primary

European markets in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Spain.

Before joining Bank of America in March, Grice worked as a consultant

there on secondment from Fleishman-Hillard.

Grice explained that the bank was considering using an agency over a

wider range of activities and felt the time was right for a review. She

stressed that the review did not reflect dissatisfaction with Fleishman-

Hillard’s performance.

‘As I have been in the job for six months, it also seems a sensible time

to review the work of outside consultants,’ said Grice.

Fleishman-Hillard has been invited to repitch for the account along with

Fishburn Hedges and Dewe Rogerson. An appointment is expected at the end

of August or early in September.
