MILAN: Fashion house Giorgio Armani has appointed Robert Triefus as

its new worldwide PR head.

Triefus is currently communications senior vice-president at rival firm

Calvin Klein, where he has worked for over three years. He starts his

new job in Milan in May, reporting directly to company chairman and CEO,

Giorgio Armani.

The company has been without a global PR chief for a year, since the

departure of incumbent Kevin Doyle, who returned to his native New York

after two years.

Triefus will handle press relations, promotions and advertising. He will

oversee a team of about 30 in the firm’s Milan headquarters and also be

responsible for PR staff in Armani’s overseas offices, which include

London, Paris, Brussels, Madrid, New York and Tokyo.

Isabelle Clavarino, head of press at Armani, said: ’The company has

expanded enormously over the last five years. With new projects like

next year’s launch of the Armani home collection, we really need to

focus our marketing strategies and communications.’
