The second largest hospital trust in the country, Guy’s and St

Thomas’, has promoted Jenny Reid to succeed Matt Tee in its top PR

post.

As public communications head, Reid will oversee a team of two PR

managers and two assistants, and will report directly to the trust’s

chief executive, Tim Matthews.

Reid joined the trust in 1995 and was deputy to Matt Tee. He has been

appointed head of news at the DTI, where he will oversee a team of more

than 20 people. (PR Week, 2 April).

Reid’s role will include internal communications, media relations, and

maintaining relationships with other parts of the NHS and the

Government.

One of her first tasks will be to appoint a fundraising head.

She will also be involved in a campaign to open a minor injuries

unit.

’The campaign is aimed at reassuring people about the long-term future

of Guy’s, explaining that services will be better than before and what

the minor injuries unit does,’ she said.

Last year, Reid managed the ’Blooming Marvellous’ campaign to open a

controversial building at Guy’s, which was suffering from a great deal

of negative publicity. Following the success of the campaign, Reid was

awarded the Communicating Health Award of Excellence 1998, organised by

NHS Magazine. Reid was also commended in the PR Week 1998 Young Achiever

award.

Prior to joining Guy’s, Reid worked in the corporate PR department at

Scope Communications, now Ketchum.
