Zurich Financial Services has appointed Jane Reed-Thomas as
corporate communications director of its UK general insurance arm.
The division provides motor, home and travel insurance, and includes
brands such as Eagle Star and Zurich.
Reed-Thomas will oversee a team of 12 working in research, advertising,
corporate identity and branding as well as PR. She will report to
general insurance chief executive Patrick O’Sullivan.
Reed-Thomas worked as marketing and planning process manager across
brands including Allied Dunbar as well as Zurich and Eagle Star at
Zurich’s other UK arm, a pensions and life insurance business, before
taking up her new post this month.
Zurich merged with British American Financial Services last year,
acquiring the Eagle Star and Allied Dunbar brands in the process.
Reed-Thomas said: ’The marketplace is changing, we are seeing more
mergers, consumers are becoming more financially literate and intolerant
of bureaucracy, and our challenge is to be ahead of those changes.’
Her new post was created in the merger. Eagle Star corporate affairs
head Steve Wigzell had been due to take the top PR job at Zurich’s
general arm, but left just after the merger.
