DIARY: Infestation proves a beetle bummer for Pielle

While many PR people are getting to grips with the effects of the millennium bug on their own and their clients’ businesses, public affairs and corporate agency Pielle and Company has bug problems of a different kind.

While many PR people are getting to grips with the effects of the

millennium bug on their own and their clients’ businesses, public

affairs and corporate agency Pielle and Company has bug problems of a

different kind.

The basement of the office building it occupies, located in the shadow of

the British Museum, has become overrun by beetles. Apparently, the little

pests have rendered the rented building a health hazard.

So last week Pielle’s landlord arranged for Rentokil to come in and zap

the insects. The agency’s staff have been blissfully unaware of the

problem because the beetles have kept out of their floor of the

building.

Walker says: ’We didn’t have a problem on our floor but we still had to

have the pest control people in.’

So, although Pielle’s office didn’t escape the attentions of the man

from Rentokil at least there’ll be no nasty surprises lurking in the

basement.
