DIARY: Warning bells start to ring amid news that Lowe front is due to blow over

The PR industry is buzzing with rumours following Frank Lowe’s request to take his name out of Lowe Bell. The speculation is becoming unbearable as Sir Tim Bell decides how to replace the ’L’ word.

The PR industry is buzzing with rumours following Frank Lowe’s

request to take his name out of Lowe Bell. The speculation is becoming

unbearable as Sir Tim Bell decides how to replace the ’L’ word.

While it seems unlikely that Tim Bell will embark on a Lynne Franks/Life

PR-style relaunch of the agency there is a definite possibility of a name

change.

Adrian Wheeler managing director of GCI thinks he should keep it

simple.

’In terms of brand equity Tim Bell is the most powerful name in PR so they

should just call it Tim Bell PR,’ he said.

’I suppose it could be something more cheesy though,’ he adds. Surely not,

given Lowe Bell’s hitherto impeccable reputation for doing things in the

best possible taste.

Others in the industry have taken a more light-hearted approach -

suggestions which have reached my ears include Jeza-Bell, Belly-full and

Going Going Gong. One industry wag said: ’Bearing in mind some of the

projects they’ve been involved in recently Clanger could be a good

choice.’

But Bell himself said he did not want to be rushed into making any

announcement.

Further suggestions on a postcard please.
