Public affairs firm APCO has appointed Mark Gerchick, an aviation
specialist at the US government’s Department of Transportation, as a
senior vice-president and director of aviation services at the firm.
Gerchick was deputy assistant secretary of Transportation for Aviation
and International Affairs at the department. He joined the Clinton
administration in 1993, and played a major role in the president’s push
for open aviation markets, negotiating the US-Germany Open Skies
bilateral agreement. His appointment follows APCO’s win of the account
for Boeing’s European media relations (PR Week, 15 August 1997).
