Lufthansa German Airlines has completed the re-organisation of its

corporate communications structure with the appointment of Dale Lawrence

as head of corporate communications for the UK and Northern/Eastern

Europe.

Lawrence joins from his role as Shandwick’s international PR director in

Taiwan, where he led Shandwick’s drive for private sector business,

working with clients such as Mastercard and Chrysler.

His first task at Lufthansa will be to carry out a communications audit

in the region, which includes Scandinavia, Poland, the Czech Republic,

Slovakia, Russia and Kazakhstan.

The airline does not currently use agencies in Lawrence’s region,

although he is expecting to appoint an agency in Scandinavia in the near

future.

He reports to Frankfurt-based Dan Lewis, director of international

corporate communications. Lawrence is one of six heads of corporate

communication overseeing regional PR in South America, the US, Central

Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

Lufthansa completed its privatisation process in October last year. This

has sparked the reorganisation of its corporate communications structure

and a global review of its PR agencies (PR Week, 21 November 1997).

Lufthansa plans to appoint agencies in a number of Western markets,

including France, Italy, and Spain.
