Post Office Counters - one of the Post Office’s three main

businesses - has appointed Keith Hardie as head of PR.

Hardie was promoted from head of communications for Post Office

Counters’ Retail Development Centre, which manages and develops the UK’s

post offices.

In his new job he will work with a team of 23 and be responsible for

co-ordinating national and regional PR. This will include developing a

social policy for Post Office Counters. The organisation aims to focus

and extend PR support for the community and charity work carried out by

staff and sub-postmasters.

Hardie reports to Rob Durrant, director of communications for Post

Office Counters. The head of PR post has been filled on a temporary

basis, by people seconded from with the organisation, since the

departure of Julia Davies two years ago to join the Post Office

Counters’ training division.

Hardie’s appointment comes at a time when the Government is reviewing

its ownership of the Post Office and considering giving the service

greater commercial freedom.
