PARIS: Communications agency Crayon Noir has won a competitive

pitch to establish and implement the first stages of an external and

internal communications programme for the University of Paris’ Jussieu

campus.

The campus, built in the 1960s and 1970s, is about to embark on an

extensive five-year construction programme to remove asbestos from all

its buildings.

Crayon Noir’s brief is to inform its 40,000 students and 10,000

employees, as well as the media and other external bodies, about the

construction.

The agency, appointed last month on a contract which runs until this

autumn, has set up a press office on the Jussieu site, manned by

consultant Marianne Brengou.

A final ban on asbestos was ruled by French law last December after a

phasing-in period of several years. Following this ban, the French

ministry of education ordered the five-year building programme for

Jussieu’s central Paris campus.
