Public affairs consultancy Advocacy has won a two-way pitch to

handle public affairs for South West Enterprise, the organisation

representing private sector businesses in Devon and Cornwall.

South West Enterprise counts 250 members including South West Water,

South West Electricity Board, BT, the Federation of Small Businesses and

the South West Chamber of Commerce.

Advocacy is working for South West Enterprise on a project basis and the

account will be headed by Advocacy director Robin Squire. It will lobby

Government on the Regional Development Agency Bill which proposes to set

up nine development agencies across England to promote regional

development, regeneration, efficiency and investment.

South West Enterprise wants the new agencies to support existing

businesses as well as helping to start new ones or giving money to less

successful enterprises.

Paul Davis, chief executive of South West Enterprise, said: ’We need to

make sure the winners we’ve got remain winners as well as helping other

businesses become competitive.’
