PARIS: Dow France drops I&E for Ketchum



Information et Entreprise has lost its account with Dow France after 30

years with the company. A subsidiary of the US chemicals and plastics

giant, Dow France handed its F300,000 (pounds 39,000) media relations

contract to Ketchum following a pitch against I&E and three other

agencies last month. Public affairs manager Isabelle David said that

after 30 years Dow felt it was time for a change. ‘There are very

competent people at I&E, but we wanted to look again at the way we work

with the press,’ she said. Ketchum’s brief will focus on developing

Dow’s corporate reputation through the trade, management and business

press.



MADRID: De Osma joins Llorente y Cuenca



JA Llorente y O Cuenca has appointed Ignacio Vaca de Osma as the

agency’s first director of media relations. Previously an account

executive at Hill and Knowlton, de Osma will handle three accounts,

including Gillette and Johnson & Johnson. He will also develop Llorente

and Cuenca’s own relationship with the press. ‘It’s a young company so

we need to cultivate contacts with key media,’ said de Osma.



ATHENS: Agencies create association



Seven PR firms have joined forces to create Greece’s first PR agency

association. Based on the UK’s PRCA, the Hellenic Public Relations

Consultants Association includes The Rowland Company, Synergia PR, Ikon

SCS, Market Link PR, Partners PR and Publicom/Hill and Knowlton.

Managing directors from the seven members are due to meet later this

month to elect a president.



MUNICH: HBI to boost Clarify’s image



HBI Helga Bailey has picked up an account from software provider

Clarify. The US company makes help desk systems for corporate clients

and set up a German subsidiary in December. HBI will promote Clarify’s

products and corporate identity through the economic, trade and

management press.



ATHENS: Ericsson hires Publicom/H&K



Publicom/Hill and Knowlton, headed by managing director Nick Chaloner,

has been hired by Swedish mobile phone company Ericsson as its first

public relations consultancy in Greece. Hired without a pitch the agency

will handle a sponsorship and events programme and develop relations

with business and lifestyle media.



PARIS: Edelman Rouet’s nutritional boost



French food firm Danone has brought in Edelman Rouet to generate

publicity for its introduction of nutritional information on frozen food

packages. From April the company will include dietary details on the

back of its frozen ready-made meals. Edelman Rouet will target the

consumer and medical press and organise debates on the health aspects of

pre-prepared food.



MADRID: B-M books into hotel chain



Spanish hotel chain NH Hoteles has taken on Burson-Marsteller as its

public relations adviser, three months after communications manager



Isabel Saracho joined the agency. The company, which runs 82 hotels

throughout Spain has briefed B-M to handle corporate communications and

product promotion targeting holidaymakers in the 25 to 45 age range.

Saracho will direct the account.
