BORDER LINES: NEW YORK - Ketchum acquires Sheppard

Ketchum has acquired internal PR specialist Sheppard Associates as part of its plan to establish a global internal communications practice. Sheppard, founded in 1986, has eight offices around the US and an annual income of pounds 8.7 million, making it the largest employee relations agency in the US. It will continue to operate under its existing name in the US, but will form the body of Ketchum’s new global practice elsewhere. Agency founder Don Sheppard will remain as chief executive and has been tasked by Ketchum to set up the new practice abroad, starting with London and Hong Kong. Ketchum Chicago director Peter Fleischer will head the new internal communications practice.
