Peggs lays PR groundwork for training council

Victim Support media and public relations manager Helen Peggs has joined the Training Standards Council as its first media and communications manager.

Victim Support media and public relations manager Helen Peggs has

joined the Training Standards Council as its first media and

communications manager.

The council is a government-funded body which inspects the 2,000

organisations which provide publicly-funded training. Its findings are

published on the internet only. It was launched earlier this year, with

the aim of ensuring that trainees get good value, high quality training.

It will eventually have more than 400 inspectors.

Peggs, who joined the Oxford-based organisation last week, will handle

external enquiries about inspectors’ reports, promote examples of good

training practice, promote workplace training generally and also

organise the council’s liaison with its inspectors. She is the

organisation’s most senior media and PR figure and will report to Nicky

Perry, a senior inspector.

Prior to Peggs’ work at Victim Support, where she spent ten years and

set up a five-stong press office, she managed an Islington-based

community association which had 35 staff. Victim Support said it would

be recruiting a replacement for Peggs this autumn.
