Ofwat seeks new external relations head

Water companies regulator Ofwat is seeking a new head of external relations to replace Dilys Plant, who will leave the organisation in October.

Water companies regulator Ofwat is seeking a new head of external

relations to replace Dilys Plant, who will leave the organisation in

October.



The new director will report to the director general of water services,

currently Ian Byatt, and will manage a team of 12 people handling press,

publicity and other information work, as well as a budget of some pounds

800,000.



The starting salary for the post is around pounds 50,000.



The director of external relations also advises the office on the

presentation of Ofwat’s policies to audiences including journalists, the

City, customers and MPs. The post also encompasses managing all Ofwat’s

external communications and devises communication strategy.



Plant, who has held the post since Ofwat was established in 1989, is

away on holiday until next month and Ofwat refused to discuss details of

her departure or her future plans.
