Financial Dynamics has snatched London and Continental’s financial PR

account from Brunswick. The agency is understood to have been appointed

within the last two weeks although L&C was unable to provide

confirmation.

The private consortium, which includes Virgin Group and National

Express, was awarded the contract to build the pounds 3 billion fast

rail link to the Channel Tunnel together with the assets of Eurostar

operator European Passenger Railways in February.

Brunswick, which handled PR for the consortium for two years during the

bidding process, effectively ended its contract then. Since that time

L&C has been courted by numerous financial PR agencies among them

Grandfield.

The account should be a lucrative one. L&C is planning an international

share offering late next year to raise more than pounds 500 million

towards the cost of building the rail link.

Meanwhile it emerged that Brunswick was part of the team advising

engineering group BBA on its proposed bid for Lucas Industries - which

threatened to scupper Lucas’ merger with Varity of the US - although BBA

continued to retain FD throughout.
