Diary: Charitable Hadden gives the silent treatment

Getting Edelman managing director Abel Hadden to talk is not usually a problem. Getting him to shut up is another matter altogether.

Getting Edelman managing director Abel Hadden to talk is not

usually a problem. Getting him to shut up is another matter

altogether.

But now his work colleagues have come up with a scheme to keep the

Hadden’s gob shut for a whole day - and it’s all in the name of

charity.

A long-time supporter of Comic Relief, Hadden has agreed to mark this

year’s Red Nose Day (Friday, 14 March) by refusing to speak to anyone

unless they pledge money to his favourite charity. As an added

incentive, his family and work colleagues have promised to fine him #1

each time he is caught talking to someone who has not pledged money to

Comic Relief.

But hang on a minute, isn’t charging clients just for talking to them

what most PR people do all the time?
