The National House-Building Federation is searching for a head of

communications to replace Liz Male, who has moved to Fishburn Hedges as

a senior consultant.

Male, who set up NHBC’s press office after joining the organisation four

and a half years ago, has secured her former employer as a client for

Fishburn Hedges.

NHBC’s new chief executive Imtiaz Sarookhi did not want to lose Male’s

expertise. After she resigned he began negotiations to use Fishburn

Hedges as external consultants.

’He was keen that I should stay on and assist NHBC through what is quite

a difficult time for it,’ said Male.

Sarookhi is at present carrying out a review of the organisation’s

structure and activities.

’A wholesale strategic review is taking place,’ said NHBC assistant to

the chief executive Derek Hamilton-Knight, who is in charge of corporate

and public affairs at the organisation.

’We’re talking to those stakeholders that have an interest in new

housing.’

NHBC’s new head of communications will lead a team of four. The

department has a budget of about pounds 300,000.

NHBC was established in 1936. It represents organisations interested in

improving house-building standards such as developers, consumer groups

and mortgage lenders.

It is also a registered insurance company, with reserves of over pounds

500 million.

Its Buildmark insurance has been taken out by over five million new home

buyers since the 1960s.

Fishburn Hedges intends using Male’s experience to increase the number

of its property clients. She will also be involved in broader corporate

and issues management work.
