Shandwick Consultants, the financial, corporate and public affairs

consultancy, has recruited a BBC journalist to expand its broadcast PR

services.

Tessa Curtis, business correspondent, BBC News and Current Affairs,

joins the consultancy in September as a director.

She has worked on radio and TV programmes such as the Nine O’Clock News,

Today and Newsnight and has been City correspondent of the Daily

Telegraph.

Colin Trusler, chief executive of Shandwick Consultants, said: ’Tessa

will strengthen our financial PR team and will enable us to help our

clients exploit the rapidly growing opportunities of television and

radio, both in the UK and globally.

’This will be a growing area of the business and will help to make

Shandwick a leader in this field.’

The appointment appears to be part of a trend for major agencies to

establish a broadcast division.

Financial consultancy Dewe Rogerson has formalised its broadcast team

over the last 18 months. It also recruited a TV journalist, Sarah

Schofield from ABC News, six months ago.

DR director Andrew Cornelius said ’There is more need for someone

specialised in this area, especially with the proliferation of new

business TV channels such as FTTV, Reuters and Bloomberg.’
